Celebrate Halloween at Ocean Lakes For 5 Spooky Weekends!

Halloween is even more exciting when you can celebrate it over five fun-filled weekends. Every October, Ocean Lakes becomes a Halloween destination where families decorate their vacation homes and golf cars, dress in creative costumes, and make new traditions together.

For 2026, the theme is “Red, White & Boo!” Halloweekends are scheduled for October 2–3, 9–10, 16–17, 23–24, and 30–31. Additional Thursday and Sunday activities make it easy to fill a fall getaway with seasonal fun near our Myrtle Beach vacation rentals.

Why Halloweekends Are So Special

Halloweekends are about much more than candy and costumes. Families can spend their days participating in contests, games, crafts, and special events before enjoying the beach and other amenities.

The celebration has become an annual tradition for families from near and far. Guests get into the spirit by decorating campsites, pumpkins, and golf cars, creating plenty to see as you explore the property.

A fall stay also puts you near other Myrtle Beach events, giving your family more options beyond the Halloweekends schedule.

Signature Halloween Events

Saturdays bring some of the biggest festivities at Ocean Lakes Family Campground®. Sandy’s Eats & Treats Food Truck Festival starts at 9 a.m., followed by a full lineup of contests and entertainment.

The Tricked-Out Golf Cars Contest lets guests show off creative decorations, and the Pet Costume Contest supports All4Paws Animal Rescue. The family costume contest includes categories for several age groups, plus duo and family/group competitions.

Trick-or-treating takes place Saturdays from 4:30–6:30 p.m. Guests handing out treats must sign up at the Recreation Office, while trick-or-treaters can pick up a Treat-Friendly Site List beginning at 4 p.m.

Later, Sites & Lights: Cruise & Choose runs from 6:30–9:30 p.m., inviting families to tour participating decorated houses and campsites. Saturday night also includes laser tag and the Red, White & BOO-gie Dance with a live DJ.

Creative Activities for the Whole Family

The fun isn’t limited to Saturdays. Thursday nights feature Halloween Music Bingo & Stupid Trivia at the Recreation Center. On Fridays, guests can join Campground Canvases, a two-hour painting class, or play 20 games of Trick or Treat Bingo.

Other activities include the Halloween Amazing Race, an app-based Patriotic Scavenger Hunt, DIY tie-dye, and weekly Halloween Jar Guessing. Sunday mornings also feature a Patriotic Duck Hunt, with 250 ducks hidden throughout common areas and a one-duck-per-family limit.

After a packed day, Ocean Lakes house rentals give families their own space to enjoy dinner, relax, and get ready for the next round of Halloween fun.

Here are a few highlights to keep on your calendar:

  • Thursdays: Halloween Music Bingo & Stupid Trivia begins at 6 p.m. at the Recreation Center.
  • Fridays: Campground Canvases offers a two-hour painting class, while Trick or Treat Bingo adds seasonal surprises to 20 games of bingo.
