How will the 2026 beach renourishment project impact my stay at Ocean Lakes Family Campground, and will I still be able to access the ocean?

The 2026 renourishment project is designed to be a “big win” for guests by creating a wider shoreline and better storm protection, with minimal disruption to your vacation. While heavy equipment like bulldozers and slurry pipes will be active 24/7 once work reaches the campground’s mile of beachfront, only about 1,000 feet of the beach will be closed at any given time. This phased approach ensures that the vast majority of the 5,000-foot shoreline remains open for swimming and relaxing, and most individual sections are typically completed in just one to three days. Although you may notice temporary noise or darker-colored sand initially, the result will be a significantly expanded beach area with more room for families to spread out and enjoy the Grand Strand.
