This is a very nice property, well maintained. The room configuration was exactly what our group needed. The beds were a little firmer than we are used to, but still comfortable. Plenty of seating around the table and the living room area. The hot water seemed to keep up pretty well for the number of bathrooms/showers. And the outside shower was a plus. It was a short walk to the beach. We did rent golf cars and used them to get to the beach with all our gear. But some of our group walked. There is a Walmart Neighborhood Market directly across the street from the campground main entrance for all your food purchases and restocking during the week. The Walmart also had a small RV section. Shops and restaurants are nearby. The airport is only 10 minutes away. One plus for us was that the Ocean Lakes Properties called us the day before and allowed us early check-in. Our house was ready and very clean at 9am.
Things to be aware of before your stay:
1. The kitchen is stocked with a good amount of items. There are 2 coffee makers, a Keurig and a regular pot. They have a waffle maker, griddle, blender, some measuring cups/spoons, hand mixer, crockpot, colander, 2 mixing bowls, 2 manual can openers (that only worked for one of our group š ), a 2-slice toaster. There were 13 dinner plates, 11 or so of the dessert plates, and cereal bowls. Glasses are all plastic which is a plus! If your group has more than 6, you’ll need to run the dishwasher twice a day to have enough plates. Dishwasher works great. Bring your own dishwasher tabs.
2. We opted for the linen package. The sheets are thin, but get the job done. They gave us sheets for every bed including the pull out sofa bed. The towels were nice. Each towel set consisted of 2 bath towels and one washcloth. Bath mats were included; one for each bathroom with a shower/tub. Also included were 2 kitchen towels and one dishcloth.
3. If you don’t get the linen package, you’ll need to bring sheets, bath towels, bath mats and kitchen towels. Even with the linen package, you still need paper towels, tissues and toilet paper from home.
4. You’ll need to bring your own trash can liners. One 13-gallon kitchen can, and five 4-gallon cans, one in each bathroom. You can also buy these at the Walmart across the street.
5. There is a top load washer and dryer in the house. Bring your own detergent.
6. The streets are very narrow. Navigating parking larger vehicles can be a challenge. We had a mini van and small SUV. There is plenty of room under the house, but turning into and out of the parking bay required a 4 point turn or so.
7. Another fun fact is that the house rocks when there is east/west movement in the top floor. Our architect children told us this is called “racking” and is not an earthquake. Don’t panic!
8. We recommend renting a golf car to ride around the property. There are Easter Egg properties if you can find them. And don’t leave the house without a map of the campground! We did that once. Pro tip: There are only 2 ways to get to the other side of the campground. The beach side or the entrance side. There is nothing in the middle. The beach could be a third way, but you have to walk on the beach. No golf cars allowed there.
9. FYI – the steps up to the house are uncovered, which is unfavorable if it’s raining when you get there to unload. The decks are narrow. Two decks on the north side. The lower one is slightly less narrow. One deck on the south side, which is the entrance to the house.
10. The house has a thermostat on both levels. Although they were both set to the same temperature, the upstairs was approximately 3-5 degrees warmer. We kept the upstairs at 70 degrees, but turned the downstairs temp to 72 degrees, which evened it out better.
11. There are no beach chairs, umbrellas, etc., at the house. Bring your own from home.
